The final test: can their bridge support 5kg or 10 lbs?   Professional Development Day Friday, April 27, 2018 12:01 pm dismissal for Gr. 1 to 7 No Kindergarten Classes Valbella Gourmet Foods Fundraiser School Council is asking all BES families to help support School Council initiatives such as Nature Explorers, Outdoor Pursuits and Classroom Enhancements by selling Valbella products. Alberta Education Accountability Pillar Survey From January to March, Alberta Education will be conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey.   Feedback from this survey provides an opportunity for Alberta Education and school authorities to ensure that we are equipping students for success. •     In January/February parents of students in grades 4, 7 and 10 will receive an English survey from Alberta Education in the mail - please contact the school if you do not receive a copy in the mail. •     In February, students in grades 4, 7 and 10 and all teachers will be completing their surveys online at school. All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences with your school.  In addition to English, the parent survey is available in French, Chinese, Punjabi, Arabic, Blackfoot, Cree, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog and Urdu.   Please contact the school office if you would like the survey in one of these other languages. Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving.  As the sample size in our area is quite small your feedback is valuable.  It is very important to have as many surveys returned as possible, so we encourage you to promptly return your survey to Alberta Education. Survey results will be available to school authorities in May 2018, and will be reported publicly as part of the 3-Year Education Plans and Annual Education Results Reports.  Details about the Accountability Pillar and how to obtain results are available at www.education.alberta.ca/accountability. Town of Banff Rainbows Program In February, the Town of Banff will begin offering the Rainbows Program at Banff Elementary School. Rainbows is a program for children and youth that helps them to cope with significant losses in their life, such as separation or divorce of parents, or the loss of a loved one.  The goal of the group is to assist children in expressing and understanding their feelings, accepting what has happened, normalizing grief and loss, and experiencing a sense of belonging in an accepting, non-judgmental environment.  Please click here for more information and the consent form.
