Achievement test schedule and information for parents

In May and June of this year, all Grade 3 and 6 students throughout the province will write provincial achievement tests in language arts and mathematics. The purpose of the tests is to provide information about what students know and can do in relation to the Alberta Education Programs of Study. The tests also help the school monitor and improve student learning. Your child’s performance on the tests will not be used as part of the final report card.

In late September, an Individual Student Profile showing your child’s achievement tests will be mailed to you. This profile is prepared by Alberta Education and will present your child’s performance on each test compared to the provincial standards. Reports that show how well our students did as a group will also be available in the fall.

For more information about provincial achievement tests, including sample questions, refer to the Alberta Provincial Achievement Testing Parent Guide.
