BES continues to shine!

The results from last year's grade 3 and grade 6 Provincial Achievement Tests are in and  Banff Elementary continues to do very well! A remarkable 100% of BES grade 3 students who wrote the language arts exam achieved the acceptable standard compared to 82% of all other students in Alberta. 90% of BES grade 3 students achieved the acceptable standard on the math exam compared to 77% of all other students in Alberta.

Grade 6 Banff Elementary students also continue to do very well on provincial achievement tests:

  • Social Studies: 83% of BES students achieved the acceptable standard on the exam compared to 71% of all other students in Alberta.
  • Science: 85% of BES students achieved the acceptable standard on the exam compared to 76% of all other students in Alberta. A remarkable 35% of BES students achieved the standard of excellence on the exam, compared to 25% of all other students in Alberta.
  • Language Arts: 85% of BES students achieved the acceptable standard on the exam compared to 83% of all other students in Alberta. In addition, more of our students write the exam than the provincial average.
  • Math: 81% of BES students achieved the acceptable standard on the exam compared to 73% of all other students in Alberta.
  • In addition, more of our students write the exam than the provincial average.

While these exam results are but one measure of a successful school, they do highlight the ongoing great work of all BES students, staff, and teachers. It is important to remember that the achievement tests present a small measure of a student’s performance: the most complete picture of learning is presented in a broad range of your child’s school work.
