Lunch Program, Report Cards : January 12, 2017
Spotlight on Learning
Welcome back! The Grade 5’s are learning to apply their understanding of fractions through problem solving and are making connections between fractions and division. This week, they have been designing a 60km bike race complete with rest stops and kilometer signs spaced according to fractions calculated. They are using landmark fractions (1/2 to find 1/4, 1/4 to find 1/8) and division to figure out where to put each stop on their race course. Having different kinds of stops (water, food, etc.) at the same location helps students to learn about equivalent fractions, e.g., 1/2 = 4/8.

The school council is thrilled to continue our lunch days program. The second session will run from February 2 - June 15 and the order deadline is January 26, 2017. Don't delay… order today! Once the system is closed we cannot add additional orders. This is a purely volunteer run program. We are in need of volunteers to serve lunch. Please contact Kelsie Fodor at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer. You can also sign up on the MunchaLunch website when completing your child's order. The Fairmont Banff Springs, Aardvark Pizza, The Old Spaghetti Factory, Subway, Patti's Pantry, Earls Banff, The Rimrock Hotel and Brewster's MountView Barbecue are again carefully preparing lunches for our children. Thank you to these local vendors for their continued support for this very important fundraiser! If you have any allergy concerns, please contact the vendor directly to discuss the ingredients.
