The objective of the grade two’s STEM challenge was to create the longest paper chain using one sheet of 12 x 18 construction paper. This introduction to measurement had students collaborating, exploring efficient and effective ways of constructing rings from paper.  Students worked well in groups and every group came up with a plan and roles for each person.  Students tried constructing the chains with many different shapes and sizes; including little rings, large rings, and skinny rings.
P.S. What is STEM?  Science, Technology, Engineering and Math!
