Winter Walk Day, Kindergarten Open House, TOB Rainbows Program, Accountability Pillar Survey : February 2, 2018

Spotlight on Learning
The student council has challenged us all to be caring cubs and have created a kindness calendar this month.  These challenges are clear examples of the CUBS Code (Caring, Understanding, Belonging, Safety)! Examples include read to someone, make 20 people laugh, compliment people today and write a nice note to a student and a teacher.

Town of Banff Rainbows Program
In February, the Town of Banff will begin offering the Rainbows Program at Banff Elementary School. Rainbows is a program for children and youth that helps them to cope with significant losses in their life, such as separation or divorce of parents, or the loss of a loved one.  The goal of the group is to assist children in expressing and understanding their feelings, accepting what has happened, normalizing grief and loss, and experiencing a sense of belonging in an accepting, non-judgmental environment.  Please click here for more information and the consent form.

Alberta Education Accountability Pillar Survey
Alberta Education is currently conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey.  Feedback from this survey provides an opportunity for Alberta Education and school authorities to ensure that we are equipping students for success.
Students in Grades 4-7 and all teachers will be completing their surveys online at school.
All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences with your school.  In addition to English, the parent survey is available in French, Chinese, Punjabi, Arabic, Blackfoot, Cree, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog and Urdu.  Please contact the school office if you would like the survey in one of these other languages.
Survey results will be available to school authorities in May 2018, and will be reported publicly as part of the 3-Year Education Plans and Annual Education Results Reports (see our website for the 2017-2020 BES Three Year Plan).
Details about the Accountability Pillar and how to obtain results are available at www.education.alberta.ca/accountability.
