Banff Elementary School loves and greatly appreciates our volunteers! Unfortunately parent volunteers in the classroom are suspended for the time being, including Mountain Readers and Hot Lunch. Parents can still participate in School Council online meetings. We are needing help with the Squirrel Street barricades. If you are going by and see the barricade should be out (8:00am or 2:45pm) or be returned to its spot by the fence (8:30 or 3:20ish), please feel comfortable moving it as needed. This would be greatly appreciated!!
We are required to have all volunteers who help in the school or on field trips complete a Vulnerable Sector Check through the RCMP (updated annually) and sign a Confidentiality Contract as per Canadian Rockies Public Schools’ Administrative Procedure 490 “School Volunteers” and the FOIP Act (see the CRPS website for more details). Please visit the school office for the required forms prior to volunteering.
There are many ways to volunteer at BES:
In the Classroom or on Field Trips
If you would like to spend time helping in your child’s classroom or on Field Trips, please speak directly to the teacher.
Parents play an important role in student success. School councils allow parents to participate in decisions that impact student learning. By contributing knowledge, perspective and ideas at school council meetings, parents are actively contributing to the success of our school community. We welcome all parents to join our Council meetings to learn, observe, and have a voice. School Council generally meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at BES at 3:15 pm and child care is provided. Whether you can come for one meeting, or every meeting, for 30 minutes or the full hour and a half, your involvement is welcome.
Lunch Days Helpers
The perfect way to have a presence in the school, without requiring a lot of time. Tuesdays and Thursdays we require volunteers over the lunch hour to help distribute lunch to kids. Sign up for one day a week, one day a month, or one day per session!
Visit Lunch Days for more information or to volunteer please contact Gabby DeBaie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
One hour, one time per week can be the most rewarding way to give your time. Help BES students become amazing readers by reading out loud with students in a one on one setting.
Visit Mountain Reader Program or email email@example.com for more information
If you want to spend your time with kids but prefer to be outdoors, volunteer a morning, afternoon, or full day as a parent chaperone on a Nature Explorers field trip. Learn about our Park, and see BES students learning to become Naturalists and Banff National Park ambassadors!
