School fees
School fees invoices have been sent home with your child. Payment is due by October 31, 2016.  Payment can be made by cash or cheque (made out to Banff Elementary School) at the school office or if you wish to pay by debit or credit card, please login to Powerschool - Parent Portal - a link can be found on the BES website.
Further description of fees:
Instructional materials and supplies $99: the School Act provides for boards to "charge a parent of a student fees with respect to instructional supplies or materials".  The student fees that are charged to parents are used to help fund a variety of supplies and materials such as textbooks, electronic media, workbooks, magazines, paper, lab materials, printer and photocopier supplies, library books, and other learning resources.
Student Activity fee $6: funds field trip and expenses for other extra activities.
Mountain Living fee $20: this fee goes towards each grades' outdoor pursuit activity (skating, swimming, downhill skiing, etc.), and Nature Explorer activities. The major cost of these programs is covered by school council, through grants and donations from organizations such as the Wim & Nancy PAUW Foundation; Mactaggart Third Fund; ID9; and the Banff Canmore Community Foundation.

Terry Fox Assembly / Run
We will be holding an assembly in the gym on Wednesday, September 28th at 1pm.  We will learn a bit about Terry Fox and why we run every year to help researchers find a cure for Cancer.
On Thursday, September 29th, in conjunction with Banff Community High School, we will be running for Terry Fox.  Classroom teachers will provide more details on the time & location.
Students are invited to contribute a toonie ($2) for Terry - this is being collected by the classroom teachers.  Everyone welcome to both events!
