Outdoor Pursuits

BES Outdoor Pursuits kicked off this month with our Grade 6’s curling at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre.  They learned how to curl while having a “rocking and sweeping” good time.  Thank you to the Banff Curling Club for the excellent instruction. Our Outdoor Pursuits are supported by School Council through grants and donations generously provided by the Wim & Nancy Pauw Foundation, Mactaggart Third Fund, the Banff Canmore Community Foundation, ID9 and other fundraising efforts.

Lost and Found
Tables with lost and found items have been set up in the hall outside the office. Please come check for lost items. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity after December 22.

Banff Commonwealth Walkways and Canada 150 project
BES students and their families are invited to be part of the Banff Commonwealth Walkways and Canada 150 project, organized by the Banff Canmore Community Foundation in honour of the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and 150 years of Confederation of Canada.  The goals of the project are:

  • go outside
  • go for a walk to a special place of your choice
  • write about what makes your place special in 100 words or less
  • share your story

You may write your own story, a family story, or a story with a partner or friend. Join our community and the Commonwealth of Nations to be part of this special event. Please click here for more information.
Tell your friends, and your family from near and from away about this project. We hope you will share a story, no matter who you are!  Stories are due by Jan. 2, 2017. You can submit them digitally to or in person at 214 Banff Avenue.
