Youth Drop In, Volunteers Needed Sept 30th, Volleyball Coach, Picture Day : September 28, 2017

Spotlight on Learning
Have a listen to our Grade 7 band playing Hot Cross Buns after only two days!  Students were focussing on sound.  As lessons progress, students focus on rhythm, beat and reading basic symbols of notation.  Thank you to Mr. N for coordinating the music clinics on Monday and giving students a great start to their musical careers.

Here are a few photos from a grade three science presentation led by Mr. Williams, a geophysicist who shared his expertise on rocks and minerals, the choir singing the Banff Song at our grand opening (photo credit to Mr. Cam Westhead) and our Terry Fox run with BCHS.

Volunteers needed Saturday, September 30th
The Banff Elementary School playground is being deconstructed.

Why: To make way for construction of Phase 2 of BES, and to “Play it Forward”

Rather than sending the decommissioned equipment to the landfill. The Emmanuel Foundation gathers and refurbishes equipment, restoring it to a safe and fun structure that can be reinstalled in developing nations where underprivileged children may receive the gift of recreation and play!

The Emmanuel Foundation plans to re-build and install our playground in either Cambodia or Belize, where children would not otherwise have access to playground equipment for a wide variety of socioeconomic reasons.

When: Saturday September 30th   Starting at 8:30am to finish 1-2pm. No problem if you only have 1-2 hours to spare, we will take what you can give.
What: If volunteers could bring 3/8 drive ratchet. 11/16 open end wrench and socket, a shovel, and if anyone has an impact driver this would help to speed up the deconstruction.
It is also strongly recommended that you wear closed toed boots/shoes, bring work gloves, and eye protection.

Please RSVP to if you able to volunteer some time. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Shawn Carr Co-Chair BES Council (403)762-1255There will be coffee and snacks provided.
Cheers and thank you for your help!
