Christmas Concert, Lost & Found, School Travel Planning : December 8, 2017
Spotlight on Learning
Gr. 2 Shipwrights (boat builders) are thoughtfully designing and building boats to meet the following criteria:
- Carry a load (the principals!)
- Stable (the principals don’t tip)
- Able to propel (we can move it through the water)
The Boat Inspectors (the principals) will be wearing lifejackets as they test the boats next week! Evidence will be posted on the BES Facebook page and the @Banff_El_School twitter feed.

School Travel Planning
Banff Elementary School is partnering with Town of Banff and Canmore Community Cruisers in a School Travel Planning project that will help more students safely walk, cycle or otherwise use active transportation for the school journey whenever possible.
The first step is collecting data; how are students currently travelling to school and are there safety challenges? Each class will complete a quick survey and a Family Survey is also being conducted. Our goal is for more than 60% of our families to complete the survey. Incentive? If we can achieve more than 60% participation, we will build a scooter rack! Please click here for more details and to take the 8 to 10 minutes survey with the eldest child who attends BES. Every single family’s input is important to the success of this project. Thank you!
