Spotlight on Learning
The proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” comes to mind as we prepare to bid farewell to Mrs. Kan. Mrs Kan has played an integral role in caring for our students, families and staff for the last 15 years. She is moving on to an exciting new position in Canmore at the end of April.  She will be dearly missed by staff, students and parents.

You are invited to our fourth annual Earth Day Community Celebration on Friday, April 20th from 1:00-2:00 pm in the BES gym. This year's theme is Truth and Reconciliation for the Earth.  We have been working hard to understand the environmental challenges we face and to take daily actions to Care for Our Earth!  There will be songs, a slideshow and student presentations, artwork and the annual SoulWarmers skit. All are welcome. Students are encouraged to wear blue or green.

Valbella Gourmet Foods Fundraiser
School Council is asking all BES families to help support School Council initiatives such as Nature Explorers, Outdoor Pursuits and Classroom Enhancements by selling Valbella products. School Council will raise 10 - 15% of all sales for these initiatives.  Order forms will be sent home soon and are due back to the school office along with payment (cash or cheques made payable to BES School Council) on April 26th. Product pick up by each seller is scheduled for May 16th at BES - in time for BBQ season!

2018 / 2019 Lunch Program Volunteers Needed
This school year marks the 6th successful year of the Lunch Program at BES.  Thank you to Tracey, Dianne, Kelsey, Patti and Kara for all their hard work. Many of these volunteers have been with the program from its inception in 2012 and are ‘retiring’. The Lunch Program, supported by School Council, requires a new team of four volunteers to coordinate the program for the school year.  We need you to fill one of these positions by the end of May to ensure the Lunch Program continues in the 2018 - 2019 school year. Please click here for more information.
