October 19, 2018 : CRPS Board Meeting, Basketball Coaches, Picture Orders & Retakes, Community Christmas Concert Volunteers, Crosswalk Safety

Spotlight on Learning
Welcome to our visiting students from China!  They are spending two weeks with us at BES. We are very proud of our students for giving them such a warm welcome, ensuring they are cared for and helping them with their English.

Remember learning about Manorialism?  After building their collective understanding of this concept, Grade 8 students engaged in a knowledgeable debate whether they agreed or disagreed with this system.

Full Day Friday
Friday, October 26th
Full day of school Grades 1 - 8 (No Kindergarten this day)

CRPS Board Meeting
Follow the link to view the agenda for the Public School Board Meeting scheduled for Monday, October 22, 2018.  The meeting will take place at Banff Elementary School at 7:00 pm.

Basketball Coaches Needed
Anyone keen to share their love of the game?  We are looking for coaches for the Grade 7 boys and Gr. 8 girls basketball teams. Please contact the office if you or anyone you know is interested and available for this exciting opportunity to spend time with our awesome Division 3 students.

Scare Hunger Away

This October for Halloween, Banff Elementary School is going to SCARE HUNGER AWAY.
Once again BES is collecting food for the Bow Valley food bank. We have boxes in the front foyer that say "We SCARE hunger" to place your food items in. Spirit council has set a goal this year to collect 200 food items by Halloween. Please help us out and send a non perishable food item to school with your child. Together we can make a difference!

Picture Retake day
Picture Day portrait proofs have been sent home.  Please follow the instructions included in the package to order online (more photo options when you place an order online) or send your order back to your child’s homeroom teacher by October 25th.  Retakes are on Wednesday, November 7, in the morning only. Retakes require your child to bring their proof package back to the photographer. If you have lost the proof package, please send a note to request a retake. If your child missed the original picture day they can have their picture taken on retake day.

Banff Community Christmas Concert
The Christmas Concert Committee needs new members.  Volunteers are required for the advanced planning and organizing of this truly amazing community event.  Without volunteers the show cannot go on! Please contact Sharon Fish at banffcommunitychristmasconcert@yahoo.ca for more information.

Crosswalk Safety
Children are asked to always cross at crosswalks when making their way to/from school and to walk their bikes and scooters across crosswalks.  When crosswalks are equipment with crossing lights children should always press the button and ensure the lights are activated and traffic is stopped before they cross.
