Spotlight on Learning

Through project based learning, students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. The photos above show students exploring concepts of buoyancy, environmental protection, and the role of bison in our local ecosystem (Nature Explorers Wildlife Week).

Banff Community Christmas Concert Tickets Available / Volunteers Needed
Tickets are still available at the Banff Centre Box Office for both nights.
The Banff Community Christmas Concert still needs volunteers to help with lobby decorating and dropping off food for the crew on Wednesday. Please sign up @ Concert todo to join in the fun!  This concert cannot take place without volunteer help!!!!

Christmas Concert Dress Code
Grade 1 Performance
Dress: All black (Dresses, suit, sparkly top, dress pants etc.) with any "robber" accessories that don't impede dancing (e.g. mask, toque) Can include festive accessories (e.g. Santa hat)
Grade 2/3 Performance
Dress: Holiday Colours (Red, Green, Silver/Gold, Black or White) with sunglasses
Can wear any "Santa" accessories that don't impede singing/moving (e.g. Santa hat)
Grade 4/5 Performance
Dress: Top in Holiday colours (red, green, silver, gold, black, white), black bottoms (can wear Christmas accessories that don't impede singing)
Grade 6 Performance
Dress: Top in Holiday colours (red, green, silver, gold, black white), black bottoms
Grade 8 Performance
Dress: Concert Attire (your child should know what Mr. N. expects)

BES Bear Mandala
Student council leaders Andrian, Conner and Gabe M. pitched our BES bear mandala idea to Ms. McKibbin to promote our December Habit of Mind: "Thinking, Imagining, Innovating".  Please help us by colouring the bear mandala in our lobby. You can sign your name around the bear, but please do not write words on the bear (he told us it makes him grumpy).

New!  BES Buffs are available for $2 each at the Office!  The buff features our new logo by artist Jason Carter.

Lost and Found
Tables with lost and found items have been set up in the Learning Lab. Please come check for lost items. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity after December 21.

Has your Citizenship status changed since you registered at BES? Please contact the office to update your information.. It is important that you notify the school of any changes

School Fees
Payment for School Fees is now overdue. Please pay School fees by Debit or Credit Card online through Powerschool - Parent Portal. Payment can also be made by cash or cheque (made payable to Banff Elementary School) at the school office.
