Spotlight on Learning
The Roots of Empathy program is one of the highlights in Grade one. These moms and babies  come every three weeks in order to allow our students to observe the infants' development and emotions. This evidence-based program not only develops empathy, but supports our students through some tough times. Expecting moms are invited to take part next year!

2019-2020 Kindergarten Registration / Open House
Banff Elementary School is now accepting Kindergarten registrations for 2019-2020. New this year, online registration will be available starting in February - watch our website for more details. You are invited to our Open House on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 6:30 pm. Please click here for more information.

Lunch Program
School Council is thrilled to continue our lunch days fundraising program, offering parents the opportunity to buy their children nutritious and appetizing lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but we require volunteers! If you would like your child to benefit from these lunches we ask that you volunteer to serve at least one lunch this session. Lunch is served from 12:00 -12:10 pm  and again from 12:30 - 12:40 pm. Often there is enough left over to feed our volunteers (or you could order yourself lunch on your volunteer day). We also require lunches to be picked up from certain vendors (specifically Subway orders on a Tuesday). This is a purely volunteer run program. Please sign up on the MunchaLunch website when completing your child's order or contact our volunteer coordinator Gabby DeBaie at gdebaie@gmail.com. We cannot run the lunch program without the help of volunteers. This session will run from February 5 - June 20. The order system is now open and will close January 27th. Please click here for further information and ordering details.

Alberta Education Accountability Pillar Survey
From January to March, Alberta Education will be conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey. Feedback from this survey provides an opportunity for Alberta Education and school authorities to ensure that we are equipping students for success.

•     In January/February parents of students in grades 4, 7 and 10 will receive an English survey from Alberta Education in the mail - please contact the school if you do not receive a copy in the mail or if you would like the survey in one of the other seven languages available.

•     In February, students in grades 4, 7 and 10 and all teachers will be completing their surveys online at school.

All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences with your school. In addition to English, the parent survey is available in French, Chinese, Punjabi, Arabic, Blackfoot, Cree, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog and Urdu. Please contact the school office if you would like the survey in one of these other languages.

Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving. As the sample size in our area is quite small your feedback is valuable. It is very important to have as many surveys returned as possible, so we encourage you to promptly return your survey to Alberta Education.

Survey results will be available to school authorities in May, and will be reported publicly as part of the 3-Year Education Plans and Annual Education Results Reports.

Details about the Accountability Pillar and how to obtain results are available at www.education.alberta.ca/accountability.
