October 18 2019: P/S/T Conferences, Costume Exchange, Sock-tober, Mittens/Gloves, School Fees Due

Spotlight on Learning
Learning how to use technology as a learning tool is a part of the K-12 curriculum. Grade 3 students used Google Earth to learn about Taj Mahal in Language Arts (they thought using Google was the next best thing to a field trip to India!). They are learning about students around the world. Students told me this is important work for grade 3’s to understand and appreciate how others live in different parts of the world.

Costume Exchange
Our newest club, The Helping Hands, is a group of caring students whose goal is to raise awareness of needs (and sometimes money) in our community. Their first endeavour is to host a costume exchange. If you have an old costume to donate, please drop off at the office by Tuesday, October 22. Costumes may be purchased by donation on Wednesday, October 23 at 8:10 am. All funds raised will go to the YWCA to support those in need of shelter.

Student Council has challenged each class to bring new socks from October 23 - 31 to be donated to homeless shelters. Ask your child for more information and bring the socks to their class. Let’s help to warm feet & warm hearts.

Call for Extra Mittens/Gloves
Lynx from Nature Explorers is putting a call out for extra mittens and gloves to have in reserve for those days that students come without. If you have any spares please drop off at the school office.
