December 6 2019: BES Christmas Concert, Student Success, Town of Banff Affordability & Assistance Programs, Lost & Found

Spotlight on Learning
This week our grade 6 students demonstrated their understanding of the phases of the moon by using different types of technology. Some students programmed the phases using “Makey Makey,” circuits, others coded “Sphero,” robots and some created still motion videos. Students were engaged by using these technologies and to develop a deep understanding of science curricular concepts.

BES Christmas Concert
Grades 1 - 6 will be performing in the BES gym on Wednesday, December 11 6:30 - 7:00 pm. Parents and families are welcome to join us. No tickets required.
Note: In order to support the organization of this event, we are asking families to drop Grades 1- 6 students off at their classroom at 6:20. They will leave their jackets, etc in the classroom. Teachers will then bring the students to the gymnasium. At the end of the concert, students will return to their classrooms with their teacher to collect their belongings and can be promptly picked up from there by their families.

Student Success
We are happy to announce that grade 8 student Taylor DesRosiers has won 2nd place in an essay contest run by the office of MLA Miranda Rosin. The topic of the essay was "As Prime Minister of Canada, what would you do to unite our country?" The contest was open to grade 6-8 students in Banff-Kananaskis. Thank you to all those who participated from BES. Congratulations Taylor!
