May 15, 2020 Update

Spotlight on Learning
Remember when your children were in Kindergarten?  Our newest K’s were scheduled to visit BES on May 7 (our “Spring into Kindergarten visit”).  Since they could not come to the school, we tried to send a little bit of the school to them through this short video.  We thought you would enjoy it too. Kindergarten is a milestone!  Hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

Student Materials Pick-up
If your child still has belongings at the school, you are most welcome to stop by to pick them up during regular school hours (8:00-12 & 1:00-3:30).  Please send an email to with the day you are stopping by, and the materials will be placed on the table out front for pick up.

Library Book Returns
The countdown is on!  We have 183 library books still checked out. Ask your child’s teacher for the title if you are unsure. Returning a book? Please place in the blue bin out front of the school during regular school hours (8:00-3:30).

School Council
The AGM and regular monthly school council meeting will be held via Google Meet on Wednesday, May 20 at 3:30pm.  We hope you can attend (virtually)!  Please email David Shackleton (School Council Chair) at and he will send you the link to attend.

Need a Bike?
The owner of this 20” bike has outgrown it and would like to pass it along (the bike was originally donated to the school by the local Fire Dept.).  It would most likely fit someone in Gr. 1, 2, or 3, depending on height. Please email if your child needs a bike!

School and Family Wellness Worker
During these uncertain times it can be helpful for students and families to have someone they can connect with to talk about their fears and emotions. Please know that you can access Ms. Van Impe via phone and email. She is available too through Google Hangouts to meet face to face with you or your children. Reach out; together we can support each other with effective new ways to address social emotional supports.
