June 12, 2020 Update

Spotlight on Learning
Gr. 2 students enthusiastically researched animals they wanted to know more about. Their recent writing task focussed on opinion vs. fact, the mechanics of writing and writing for a different purpose. They were so proud of their work, they wanted to share it with you!

Lost and Found

Missing anything? Our guess is you may have forgotten about it. Please come and take a look next week. The Lost and Found tables will be outside Monday June 15 - Friday June 19 for easy access between 8:00am-3:30pm. There is even a pair of ski poles (G.r 3?) and a nice bike helmet. Shoes and mitts galore!

Planning for Next Year
*We all have many questions about next year. We are all hopeful Alberta Education’s scenario one (in-school classes resume with near normal health measures) will be approved. Alberta Education will be making a decision by August 1 about the school re-entry plan.

*In the meantime, we have tentatively planned for a K/1, Gr. 4/5 and Gr. 7/8 classes based on our current knowledge of enrolment. As we all are aware, this too could change!  We have staffed cautiously, but have budgeted for additional teachers if our enrollment increases.

*Safety for students, staff and families is a priority. We are making plans for protocols and safety measures for September.

Bike Abandoned at BES

Is a BES student looking for their bike? This bike has been parked near the Big Horn entrance since before classes at school were cancelled. If not picked up by Monday, June 15 it will be donated to a child in need.

Student Materials Pick-up

Last week to pick up your child’s school materials and belongings! Please send an email to besinfo@crps.ca (Joanne and Jodi are back!) with the day you are stopping by, and the materials will be placed on the table out front for pick up.

Library Book Returns

Only 79 library books to go!  Bravo, BES!  Ask your child’s teacher for the title if you are unsure.

Chromebook Returns

Please return borrowed Chromebooks and chargers between June 17-22 during regular school hours (8-12 & 1-3:30). Ring the doorbell when you arrive and place the Chromebook/charger on the table. Please respect social distancing requirements. We will answer the door and collect the Chromebook. If needed, we will be loaning them again in the fall. Thank you!

Banff Library Summer Reading Club
The theme of this year's TD Summer Reading Club is "Game On," and Banff Public Library will be offering its own fun and engaging activities from June 27-August 29 for the following age groups:

  *   3-5 years

School and Family Wellness Worker
During these uncertain times it can be helpful for students and families to have someone they can connect with to talk about their fears and emotions. Please know that you can access Ms. Van Impe via phone and email. She is available too through google hangouts to meet face to face with you or your children. Reach out; together we can support each other with effective new ways to address social emotional supports.
