Dressing for Outdoor PhysEd & Recess
As fall is starting to set in, it is important to ensure your child(ren) comes to school prepared to go outside for PhysEd and recess. Please ensure to send extra layers each day.

Parking and Drop Off Zones
Please take a close look at the map below regarding the recommended traffic flow and drop-off/pick-up locations for your children. We have been working closely with the Town of Banff to make getting to and from school a safe experience for all students. Please teach your child to use the crosswalk at either corner (Moose & Big Horn or Elk & Big Horn), or better yet approach the Big Horn Kiss N’ Go area northbound so your child does not have to cross the street. When the ‘road closed’ signs are in place on Squirrel Street (8:00-8:40 am and 2:45-3:15 pm), please do not drive around them. These are in place for students’ safety.

We need your help! If you are going by and see the barricade should be out (8:00am or 2:45pm) or be returned to its spot by the fence (8:30 am or 3:15 pm), please feel comfortable moving it as needed. This would be greatly appreciated!!

School Entrances/Exits for Students
Students have been practicing going in and out of their designated grade doors. Starting Tuesday (Sept 8) at 8:15 am Grade 1 - 8 teachers will meet their students on the new Elk field to guide them into the school. Kindergarten students will meet their teachers in the Moose field. Any students that arrive after 8:30 am must enter through the main entrance on Squirrel Street and check in with the office. At the end of the day bussed students will be dismissed first and go directly to their bus on Squirrel Street (Kindergarten bussed students will be escorted by a staff member to their busses). Lake Louise bussed students will wait for their bus with a supervisor. Next, the remaining students will be dismissed through their designated grade door and escorted to their field. Please make an end of day plan with your child to meet either in their field or on the sidewalk along the perimeter of the school. Please do not congregate at the doors to maintain physical distancing. We would like to request that parents/guardians wear a mask as physical distancing may not be possible during pickup/dropoff.

Before School Care
Juggling work and family can be challenging. We at Banff Elementary School would like to support families by offering before school care starting at 7:45 am on Tuesday, September 8. This is a free service for BES families. If your child requires before school care (7:45-8:15 am), please register using the google form on the BES website or click here for the link.

Hot Lunch Program
The School Council Hot Lunch Program has been suspended at this time. School Administration and School Council will revisit the possibility of providing this much loved program. School Council credited each family's account in the spring for lunches not received. This will be revisited at the next School Council meeting on September 16 3:30 pm and families will be advised.
