The DETAILED reason for their absence.
If your child is exhibiting one or more of the COVID symptoms outlined in the daily screening tool, please indicate which symptoms. For more Alberta Health Services Guidance for Parents of Children Attending School and/or Childcare please click here. This information is available in multiple languages - please click here for translated resources. If your child has any of the other symptoms they are not allowed to attend school while sick, and may only return when symptom free.

New Morning Routine - IMPORTANT
Please take note of this important morning routine change: with the weather shifting and now that students should use indoor and outdoor footwear, students will no longer meet their teachers on the Elk field. Grades 1 to 8 students will enter the school using their regular cohort doors between 8:15 am and 8:25 am and head straight to their classrooms. As such, students should not be dropped off before 8:15 am, unless they are registered with our Before School Care Program (which still meets on the Elk field 7:45 am to 8:15 am). This will allow greater physical distancing for students to remove their footwear as they come into the school. This change takes effect Monday, November 23 for Grades 1 to 8. Kindergarten students will still be greeted outside by their teacher on the Moose Field as our teachers have a system for students to remain in their cohorts to remove their footwear.

BES Apparel
BES Apparel is available for order. Local “Canmore Mask Makers” and printmaker “Defending Awesome” have created masks for order. This is NOT a fundraiser, but a way to create school spirit. There are 4 mask sizes to choose from and masks are $12. Hoodies are $35 for youth and $40 for adults. T-shirts and Buffs are also available. Please fill out this order form if you are interested. Deadline for orders is November 27.

BES Council Purdys Chocolate Fundraiser - Pick up Date
Thank you to all those that participated in this fundraiser. Orders will be ready for pick up at BES
on Wednesday, November 25 from 3:30-4:45 pm outside at the Den door (see map below for location).

School Fees
2020-2021 School Fees are now available on PowerSchool Parent Portal. In order to recognize and alleviate some of the financial difficulties you might be experiencing due to the pandemic, we have reduced School Fees for this year and are only charging for lunchroom supervision in the amount of $130.00 for in-class learners. This fee has been pro-rated for those students that joined or left in-class learning this month.
For the 2020-2021 school year, we are NOT charging the following fees:
Mountain Active Living: $20
Student Activity Fees: $6
CTF (Career, Technology and Foundation Courses) for Gr. 7-8 students: $45
Other fees related to Athletics and Band for Junior High students (varied amounts)
For Junior High students, should our safety protocols change over the course of the year, we will then revisit School Fees for Athletics and CTF courses.
As well, please note that an adjustment has been made to the 2019/2020 Lunch Supervision Fee and this credit has been applied to your account.
Debit or credit card payments can be made online through your Parent Portal. If you are unable to make full payment within 30 days please contact Joanne Geyer at to make payment arrangements.
