And answer the question I've posted: What's your favorite way to take care of your mental health?
Walking School Bus
Banff Elementary School, in partnership with the Town of Banff, will be introducing Walk to School Wednesdays – an initiative that promotes active transportation of students getting to and from school. This will ensure regular exercise for our children and may help reduce traffic congestion around the school, which has become an increasing concern.
As part of this, we would like to again offer a Walking School Bus, which we piloted in May/June of last year and was met with positive feedback.
A Walking School Bus
The Town of Banff is hoping to offer the Walking School Bus (two or more families from the same neighbourhood traveling together for safety, with one adult leader or chaperone or walker) from mid September to mid November this year.
We are looking for parents who could volunteer once a week on Wednesdays, either in the morning or after school. There would be a start point that students could meet in your neighbourhood. Students and adults would then walk the safest route to school, picking up additional students along that given route. At the end of the day, adults would meet students at school and then walk them back through a designated route, dropping off students along the way until their end point is reached.
If you can volunteer either mornings or afternoons on Wednesdays, please contact Colin Harris firstname.lastname@example.org or call 403 762-1126. Your help is appreciated.
