E-NEWS Spotlight on Learning

The Buddy Bench is here. The outside unveiling with media coverage will be on June 21st (9:40 to 9:55 am for Div. 2 and 3, 10 to 10:15 am for Div. 1). All parents are welcome to attend outside on the Moose field. Please see the email sent on June 14th for more details.

We had a badminton singles tournament at LGMS this week. It started with 44 players, and ended with the finals between BES' own Richard Purcell and Charles Greaves. In the end it was Charles winning the tournament! Congratulations to all participants!!

Grade 7 students enjoyed their first day of tennis lessons at the Banff Spring Hotel courts.  They were able to improve their skills in a beautiful setting thanks to funding through the Wim and Nancy Pauw Foundation.

School Supplies 2022-2023
BES and Bow Valley Basics are working together to offer you great savings and convenience for your child’s school supplies! This is an optional program. To place an order please visit www.bvbasics.net or visit Bow Valley Basics (Canmore) in person by JULY 31 to take advantage of the pre-order pricing. Orders received after July 31 may be subject to a handling fee. No orders or payments will be taken at the school. Please click here for more information and the supply list for each grade.


BES Library Book Returns
Please ensure all BES Library books are returned to the BES Library by Friday June 24.


Spirit Week June 20 - 24
Monday = Movie Star Monday (dress up as your favourite movie character)
Tuesday = Twin Tuesday (dress the same as a friend)
Wednesday = Wacky Wednesday (crazy clothes and hair)
Thursday = Throwback Thursday (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc.)
Friday = Fancy Friday (dress your best)


Lost and Found

Please ask your child to check out the lost & found tables or feel free to come by and check for lost items. Lost & Found items remaining at the school on June 30 will be donated to local charities.


2022-2023 School Year

Children already attending Banff Elementary School do not need to complete a new registration, even if your child is transitioning to Banff Community High School or Canmore Collegiate High School next school year. If your plans change and your child(ren) will not be attending BES in the fall, please email the school office at bes.info@crps.ca as soon as possible. 


Grade 8 Farewell

The Families of our Grade 8 students are invited to the Grade 8 Farewell on Thursday June 30 9:00  to 10:00 am in the BES gymnasium. A photography area will be set up for you to capture your child's recognition and farewell. After the ceremony please join teachers and students for refreshments in the Den.


Right from the Start Summer Programming

Did you know Right from the Start offers free, family programming in the summer? Everything from drumming in the park and virtual crafty Fridays to some good ole fashioned summer fun and DIY terrariums! While the activities are free, some require registration. Please go to our Summer 2022 page on our website for registration and more information!


TOB & Banff Library Summer Programs
The Town of Banff offers a variety of programs for children and youth, including Summer Fun programs and Summer Get Out and Rise & Shine programs..

RCMP Bike Rodeo
Yeehaw! C'mon down to the 2022 Bike Rodeo on Sunday, June 26 from 2-4 p.m. at the Canmore Recreation Centre parking lot. In this fun learning environment, kids will learn essential bike safety and practice new skills through a series of challenges, and leave with a souvenir to remember the rodeo. The Canmore RCMP and Canmore Fire-Rescue  team members will be on-site for photos and high fives! Volunteering
Banff Elementary School loves and greatly appreciates our volunteers! We require all volunteers who help in the school or on field trips to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check through the RCMP and sign a Confidentiality Contract as per Canadian Rockies Public Schools’ Administrative Procedure 490 - School Volunteers and FOIPP. Prior to volunteering, please email your legal name to the school office at bes.info@crps.ca to request an RCMP Fee Waiver Letter and we will email you back the letter, required forms and instructions. Often Vulnerable Sector Checks can be completed by the RCMP within 24 hours. Please click here for more information on volunteering opportunities.

School Fees Now Due
Banff Elementary School fees are available on PowerSchool Parent Portal and are now due. Debit or credit card payments can be made online through your Parent Portal. If you are unable to make full payment at this time or have any questions, please contact Joanne Geyer at joanne.geyer@crps.ca. School fees that remain outstanding on June 30 may be sent to collections. Please click here for instructions on how to make a payment using PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please note that the PowerSchool App does not work with our systems - please use the link provided.
