Terry Fox School Run 1:00 pm Friday September 23
In honour of Canadian hero Terry Fox, BES students will be participating in the Terry Fox School Run on Friday September 23. We encourage parents to volunteer by running or being a course marshal. Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher for more volunteer information. Students and their families are invited to contribute a toonie ($2) for Terry or you can click here to sponsor Banff Elementary School online through the Terry Fox School Run.

National Truth & Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation / Orange Shirt Day is September 30 - BES will be closed on this day. On September 29 we encourage all students to wear orange to school to honour the thousands of survivors of residential schools. Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

Lunch Program - Volunteers Needed
The Lunch program will be starting in the middle of October. Please stay tuned for more details coming soon. To run this program we are in need of volunteers. We need help serving food and we also need a semi tech-savvy person to work with the MunchaLunch online ordering system. This requires about 3 hours of work per lunch session (2 times per school year) - training will be provided. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Susan Hughes at

News from the Office

Banff Elementary School loves and greatly appreciates our volunteers! We require all volunteers who help in the school or on field trips to complete an annual Vulnerable Sector Check through the RCMP and sign a Confidentiality Contract as per Canadian Rockies Public Schools’ Administrative Procedure 490 - School Volunteers and FOIPP. Prior to volunteering, please email your legal name to the school office at to request an RCMP Fee Waiver Letter and we will email you back the letter, required forms and instructions. Often Vulnerable Sector Checks can be completed by the RCMP within 24 hours. Please click here for more information on volunteering opportunities.

School Fees
School fees are not yet finalized; however they will start to appear on Parent Portal as we work on the fees. Payment options and details will be provided when invoiced.
