Grade 1's are writing "Valentines" to our Prime Minister with messages for "Have a Heart Day" on February 14th. They are demanding that First Nations children deserve a fair chance to grow up with their families, get a good education, be healthy and proud of who they are! Grade 1 students want our government to know "we are allies with all First Nations people and will be agents of change!"
Some classes have signed up to participate in a dance program called GROOVE, which is facilitated by Adrienne Lawlor. Groove incorporates aspects from yoga, dance, fitness to create music-driven movements for cardio, strength and flexibility. Students learned simple and easy moves from a variety of different dance styles. The program nurtures creativity and connections.
Our Grade 5 students are learning about facts from all Canadian Regions as part of their Social Studies, using an engaging online program called the Amazing Race.
Students have swiftly learned this composition to celebrate the Chinese New Year and presented their performance to our principal, Mme Trottier.

Showing kindness can be as simple as asking someone to play with you at lunch and as profound as standing up for someone in moments that matter. On Friday February 18 our school is recognizing Pink Shirt Day - wear a pink shirt to support kindness at BES.
